New Audio at CES

Audio manufacturers have been very busy this year, which was evident in the new products on display from Bowers & Wilkins (B&W), Monitor Audio, Triad, and Peachtree. Many products have been comprehensively re-engineered to meet the needs iPod, Mac, and PC users.

B&W
Bowers & Wilkins introduced the new P5 headphones, which are beautifully made, bring you remarkable natural sound and a luxuriously comfortable fit. They also introduced the MM-1 desktop loudspeakers, which are true hi-fi speakers, shrunk to fit on your desktop. They dont just look great, but sound great too, transforming your computer into a hi-fi stereo sound system.

The big news from B&W was the next generation 800 series speakers. These new 800 Series Diamond speakers have been updated with new tweeters, drivers and crossovers, as well as several cosmetic refinements. We expect to have these on display in our showroom in April.

Monitor Audio
Monitor Audio introduced its Apex series, which are compact satellite speakers in gloss black or white with a 5 woofer. They come with a table stand that can swivel to become a wall bracket. A matching center channel and subwoofer round out the series.

Also shown were Monitors SoundFrame1 and SoundFrame2 on-wall speakers. They are based on top-of-the-line custom technology with an integrated midrange/tweeter module. The speakers come in black, white, or with an image printed on the grills to mimic the look of a framed picture. You will even be able to supply your own images to further match your decor and customize their look.

Triad
Triad showed an invisible in-wall or in-ceiling speaker, which is professionally installed then mudded and painted over for a concealed look. They are the perfect solution for applications that require great sound, but where speakers cannot be seen
