History
Wilshire Home Entertainment was founded in the Wilshire District of Los Angeles, California in 1954. In 1978, Lyn and Cynthia Perry purchased Wilshire T.V. and Radio Center located in a 500 square foot office suite on the fifth floor of a high rise building on Wilshire Boulevard. The store was soon relocated to a 3000 square foot retail location on Western Avenue, where sales grew profitably each year.
On April 30, 1992, during the Los Angeles riots, Lyn and Cynthia watched from their Thousand Oaks home in horror and disbelief as television news cameras recorded their store being looted of everything that could be carried out of the door, and then reduced to ashes. The store reopened six months later in Thousand Oaks, California, which is approximately 40 miles north of Los Angeles.
Today, Wilshire Home Entertainment enjoys a 12,500 square foot showroom in Thousand Oaks. Wilshire’s reputation in the communities it serves has earned Lyn Perry and the company continued recognition from national and civic organizations for community support and best business practices, including earning a top 20 spot on CEPro’s coveted Top 100 dealers list.
Wilshire represents more than 20 major audio, video, and speaker lines that are displayed in our retail showroom and installed by our installation team. The company has been servicing the communities of Southern California for over 55 years, and continues to host special events, participate in local fund raising events, and regularly makes contributions to local non-profit organizations.
